Simbang Gabi
The Simbang-gabi brought back so many fond memories of our Filipino tradition – the sights, the smells, the sounds, the food, the cold.
Thanks to the chairmanship of Del Facundo, who despite a family emergency, stayed until the last minute to ensure that the details of the celebration were carried through. A special thanks to: Zeny, Lita, Susan, Chakie, Pam, Let-let, Bel, Art, Carlos, Jun, Jonan and Del who stayed late on Friday night for the Church and Modular decorations, to our volunteer Mama Mary and St. Joseph, to the rooster crow sound effect of Fe Smith and to the bell of Del Facundo, to the parol bearers, to our Filipino choir who sang during the mass and at the reception, to all the generous donors who brought their specialty food that they shared at the reception, to all who helped in the clean up and to all of our members who attended the mass that made the Simbang-gabi a success. Lastly, to Fr. Al for celebrating the mass and for supporting the Filipino community in so many ways this past year.
Congratulations to Carlos Letrondo who won the parol contest!
Election of Officers and Sinulog
This year’s first activity will be our election of officers and Sinulog scheduled for January 15, 2012. The board decided to have the election on the same day before the Sinulog at 2:00 PM at the Hall. This will be advantageous to all since we will be able to do two important events in a single day. After which, we will have our traditional rosary procession of our Santo Ninos.
Carlos Letrondo graciously accepted to be the Chairperson for this event. We are in need of a bull horn or a portable sound system that we can borrow for use during the rosary procession. Please let us know if anyone can lend this for this occasion. We also need a sound system, a CD player and a CD of Sinulog dances. Volunteers for the setup and cleanup of the Hall are also needed.
This celebration will be potluck. Please bring your favorite dish to share with everybody.
The highlight of the celebration is the 5:00 PM mass where we can bring our Santo Ninos at Church for the blessing of our statues.
