Our Mother of Perpetual Help Feast Day highlights:

The mass - The celebration of Our Lady’s feast day started with a mass celebrated by Fr. Al. His homily touched on the many titles of our Mother Mary. He was very appreciative of the involvement of the Filipino community in the parish activities. He also talked about unity and not allowing the influence of the evil one to create an atmosphere of discord and disunity among the members which happens to any organization. He also exhorted the Filipino community to encourage the young towards religious vocation.

The Video Clip – After the mass, dinner was served and the members had the chance to view the past activities that the Filipino community was involved in.

The Dancers – The maiden performance of the Filipino dance troupe just recently organized by Pilita Sayo was a hit. Despite the limited time of practice, the Subli and the Hawaiian dance interpretation of the famous song Silayan were very gracefully done. They already have invitations from other Filipino communities to perform their dance numbers.

The Violinist – Marion Deduyo played “You Raise Me Up” and “The Prayer” on her violin. Marion has been playing the violin since she was eight years old. In September 2008, she auditioned with John Erhardt to play with the adult choir at the 9:00 AM mass on Sundays. This young lady and her parents believe in sharing her talent with the parish community.

The Singer – The “show stopper” for the night were the songs rendered by Kristine Remigio Linares. Kristine is the daughter of Zeny de Ocampo, Vice-President of FCSC. In 2005, Kristine won the LA Alliance Ovation Award for Lead Actress in a Musical her performance as Kim in Miss Saigon. Her theatrical credits include Flower Drum Song as Mei-Li, Children of Eden, the King and I as Tuptim and of course Miss Saigon as Kim. Kristine sang “Mary’s Lullaby”, “Gimme, Gimme” from Thoroughly Modern Millie and “On My Own” from Les Miserables. Kristine is also a private voice coach to budding singers in the Orange County area.

A million thanks to Del Facundo and the members of his Programs committee for a very successful event. Watch for the videos in our blog.
